Parents are role models for their children. Therefore whatever the parents expect their children to do the best idea is that the parents do that thing themselves first, keep doing, the children will automatically do it.
When there are expectations from children to do certain job a very important thing to be kept in mind is that initially for several times it is not going to be perfect. Therefore accepting the way they do it and scolding them for perfection encourages them to do it in better way in future. Making the children habit of their work is a good idea rather than parents doing their work everyday. This keeps them busy, they learn the things, get expertise in that and develop interest in things in life. The assignment of work should be according to the age and the neatness and the perfection expected also should be appropriate to the age. It is also important that initially the children do the work with parent’s help. There should be encouragement to do better and appreciation for good work. In case of more than one children doing work a competition for faster work works well for faster output.
While working with children and getting the work done from them that too of parent’s choice there are certain things parents should keep in their minds. Making the habit of certain jobs is very important. Parents also should their jobs timely which helps to make children habitual at work. Parent’s consistency at works is another important thing. Children generally like to help parents but if they say no to help then talking to them about the importance of help is essential. Further the parents also should help their children in their routine and make them realize that help then it will be easy to make them understand the importance of helping. Giving time for work or arranging the schedule to make it comfortable is another thing parents should do to make their children work and that too in time. In extreme cases not allowing the children to do their favorite things till they listen is a better way. However getting angry at them, shouting or punishing them should not be done.
The most important is to get the attention of children what parents are saying to them. Parents should be very careful in the manner and the language to be used in front of the children as tomorrow they are going to take all that.
